San Diego Mesa College professor, Dr. Waverly Ray, has recently returned from a nine-day voyage from Seattle to Honolulu on the R/V Thomas G. Thompson, an oceanographic research vessel, with STEMSEAS. Dr. Ray joined community college faculty from 13 schools and the Office of Naval Research’s Research Facilities Program Manager Robert Sparrock. Dr. Ray was chosen to participate out of hundreds of applicants.

San Diego, C.A. – An interdisciplinary collaboration of scientific expertise and artistry has resulted in a visually stunning interpretive display in the hallway of the 3rd floor of the MS Building. Led by biology professor Paul Detwiler, the production team included Jenny Armer, Museum Studies ILT in the Department of Fine Art, and Museum Studies students Gaby Espina and Sara Shah. Together, they created realistic models of marine species while also including specimens from the biology department’s teaching collections to represent a microcosm of undersea life.

They will showdown against San Diego Mesa College, a team that finished third in the National Southern League while boasting an overall record of 6-4 on the season. This exhibition was exclusively curated by San Diego Mesa College Museum Studies students. San Diego, CA – All through the month of November 2023, San Diego Mesa College will celebrate Native American Heritage Month with student panels, film screenings, resource sessions and a flag raising ceremony. The Mesa College Committee for Diversity Action, Inclusion & Equity (CDAIE) has worked closely with local tribal leaders and students to plan culturally relevant events, and recently facilitated the adoption of a Land Acknowledgement for the College.

San Diego - On October 13, 2023, San Diego Mesa College was granted provisional approval by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO) to offer a Bachelor's Degree in the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program. Mesa College’s innovative PTA program, which currently offers an Associate of Science (AS) degree, will be able to offer licensed physical therapist assistants the ability to enhance their clinical and leadership skills with the addition of a Baccalaureate degree program, leading to improved patient care within our community. Mesa’s first Bachelor’s degree program, Health Information Management (HIM), was fully approved in 2016.

San Diego, CA ---- On Thursday, November 2, 2023, San Diego Mesa College will bring back their popular dining event, “Taste of Mesa”. The event is a lively evening modeled after a premier cooking-show style fundraiser benefiting the Culinary Arts Management Program. Guests will get to sample fresh-made cuisine, enjoy competitions featuring local celebrity chefs, and bid on silent auction items. The event starts at 5:15 p.m., with early access for VIP tickets holders. Taste of Mesa features internationally-inspired cuisine and two cook-off competitions between alumni, students and advanced baking teams. Members of the public are encouraged to attend the family-friendly event.
