This year for the Third Annual Teach-in event, San Diego Mesa College students, faculty and staff gathered to hear professors across multiple subjects present the topic of “Post-truth.” In our digital age, the lines of truth and opinion often become blurred, making it difficult to discern truth. This has created a climate where there is a decreased value on truth and facts, and an increased value on opinion.

In a joint effort, faculty, students, and staff at San Diego Mesa College hosted the Second Annual Teach-in, with the topic of Free Speech vs. Hate Speech. The Teach-In was on Nov. 14 at the Mesa Commons Promenade, with about 40 students and faculty in attendance. Last fall was the first time that Mesa hosted a Teach-In event and each one has focused on a different discussion topic.

As a way to ease political tensions post-election, San Diego Mesa College faculty, staff and students participated in a Teach-in event in front of the LRC on Wednesday, Nov. 30.
With speeches from political science professor Carl Luna, sociology professor Evan Adelson, psychology professor Inna Kanevsky, AS President Ava Fakhrabadi and more, the event was an information session about the election and campus unity for those in attendance.

Faculty, students and staff at San Diego Mesa College are hosting a post-election “Teach-in” in front of the LRC on Wednesday, Nov. 30 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Originally proposed by English Professor Joe Safdie during the Academic Senate Executive Committee meeting, the purpose of the event is to give students, faculty and staff an opportunity to discuss the political climate in an educational and constructive manner, according to Robert Fremland.
