Basic Needs Application

Basic Needs Application Process

This process will connect you with a Basic Needs Counselor.  You are encouraged to submit a Basic Needs Intake application if you are experiencing economic hardship and basic needs crises that impacts your current educational success.

Our trained Basic Needs Counselors and Basic Needs Ambassadors can help by identifying and connecting you to resources such as; affordable food programs, school supplies, technology, transportation, personal care items, housing navigation support and/or emergency aids.

  • This tool is used to assess individual needs and gather information prior to the student appointment with a Basic Needs Counselor.
  • All support and resources provided are only meant for short-term, immediate assistance and will be based upon available funds at any time during the semester.
  • Submitting this application does not automatically guarantee for all services applied for.
  • Most services and/or resources are currently only available for enrolled students during the semester resources are requested for.
  • Campus of record for FAFSA must be Mesa College.
  • Be committed to working on an action plan with the Basic Needs Counselor.

Submit a Basic Needs Screener

The Stand has launched a new case management system called tbh.  The new system will allow you to request and manage your counseling appointments, view notifications or messages and contact your Basic Needs Counselor.  Additionally, the new term for Basic Needs Assessment may be called the Benefits Screener or the Basic Needs Screener interchangeably.

All students currently enrolled and need short-term assistance will be required to create an account even if you have met with a Basic Needs Counselor previously (prior to summer 2024).  You will need to use the same credentials used for logging into your mySDCCD portal (Enter your CSID in the Username field and your unique password).

Please click on the link below and allow yourself approximately 8 to 10 minutes to complete the Basic Needs Screener by following the prompts and completing all required fields.  It is recommended to complete it all in one sitting. The information provided will better assist our Basic Needs Counselor in preparing appropriate services and resources during your counseling appointment.
