The 25-26 scholarship cycle is now closed.
With hundreds of scholarship awards ranging from $250-$5,000, we encourage all currently
enrolled Mesa College students to apply. With one general application, students can
apply to as many scholarships as they wish. Students may be awarded up to three scholarships
to cover the costs of tuition, books, and additional educational expenses.
There is a scholarship for everyone. Mesa College Foundation Scholarships include
a wide variety of programs - - there are scholarships for specific majors and career
paths, basic needs, LGBTQ+, kindness, single, parents, specific ethnic and racial
populations, DSPS students, EOPS students, Military-Affiliated Students, academic
achievements, community service, leadership and more.

Scholarships
Mesa College and the Mesa College Foundation collaborate to make scholarships accessible
to all of our students regardless of major, GPA, course load, or citizenship/immigration
status. Thanks to our generous donors and supporters, Mesa Scholarship Team has been
able to create a free and easy way for our Mesa students to access hundreds of scholarship
opportunities through one application.
The application period begins early December and ends mid-February annually. Scholarship
awardees, donors, and other Mesa community members are invited to the Annual Scholarship
Awards Ceremony to celebrate their hard work and achievements.

This scholarship honors the memory of Dr. William Pogue, a former radiologist at Sharp
Grossmont Hospital, who spent over 30 years making a difference in healthcare, both
as a physician and as a volunteer clown. After earning his medical degree from George
Washington University and completing a residency at UCLA, he served as a chief medical
resident at Balboa Medical Center during the Vietnam War. In 1967, he joined Sharp
Grossmont, contributing to significant advancements, including the introduction of
the region’s first CT scanner.

Lou Da Bug Memorial Scholarship
The Lou Da Bug Memorial Scholarship was started by Professor Leah Shufelt and her
husband Jonathan in memory of their French Bulldog Louie. Louie was a rescued dog
who required a lot of medical care during his lifetime, provided by a compassionate
veterinary team. Louie was incredibly resilient, and a fighter until the end. This
scholarship is intended to support Veterinary Technology students who are resilient,
hard working, compassionate, and will provide the excellent nursing care that all
patients deserve.

When will my check be ready?
Each scholarship has its own awards timeline. There are three possible award timeline options:

Can I pick up a real check?
Yes, once checks are cut from the Foundation, checks will be sent to Student Accounting and can be picked up.
Can I get my check in the mail?
Yes, please email our team to request your check to be mailed, [email protected] and request your check to be mailed to a safe mailbox.
My check is still not ready, where is it?
Checks are being prepared and student eligibility are being verified. For awards being dispersed in May, it will be in late May. For checks dispersed in the Fall or Spring, it will be after the add/drop deadline.
How do Transfer scholarship awards get dispersed?
Once you are enrolled in your new school, please email [email protected]. Please include: your name, csid, the name of your new school, & your new school student ID#. The checks will be depositied into your student account at your new school.
