Are you Ready for "The Great California ShakeOut?"

It’s Time to Get Ready to ShakeOut!

Millions of people worldwide will practice how to Drop, Cover and Hold on October 19, 2017, at 10:19 a.m. during the annual, world-wide earthquake drills that began in California in 2008.

This is a statewide drill with a mock earthquake of 7.8 magnitude, designed to raise earthquake safety awareness and encourage preparedness.  San Diego Mesa College is participating in the drill, along with 16 other community colleges/universities and 200 K-12 schools in San Diego County.

Official rescue teams from the U.S. and other countries who have searched for people in collapsed structures agree that "Drop, Cover and Hold On" is the appropriate action to take to reduce injury and death during earthquakes. Participating in the ShakeOut is a great way for our campus, your family and the community to be prepared to survive and recover quickly from big earthquakes, wherever they occur.
