We believe that no barrier should stand in the way of a student working hard to get an education. That’s why we work with San Diego Mesa College to open up pathways of opportunity that otherwise would not exist.
For the students we serve, a college education seems far away and often outright impossible. So much stands in the way: adjusting to civilian life for our veterans; juggling work, school, and childcare needs for parents; learning English while mastering new subject matter for immigrants and refugees; or overcoming the achievement gap for our low-income students and people of color.
The students we serve have made the choice to invest in long-term goals at the sake of short-term needs. Our work focuses on honoring this choice, and reducing barriers to success. We respect the sacrifices that our students are making, but don’t want them to have to go it alone.
Due to a unique partnership with San Diego Mesa College, the San Diego Mesa College Foundation is able to deliver dramatic results with minimal expenses. The college generously covers the cost of personnel and most overhead expenses so that every dollar donated to the Foundation goes directly to serving students.
