If you are applying to a UC, CSU, Private and/or Out of State University for Fall 2022 Admission, please read this entire email carefully. Below is important information on the steps to process all application fee waivers.

University of California (UC) and California State University (CSU) campuses have opened the application process for community college students seeking to transfer in Fall 2022.  EOPS transfer students should submit their applications for Fall 2021 admission through the appropriate online application process. The application deadline for Fall 2022 admission for UC and CSU is Tuesday, November 30, 2021. Note that the EOPS office will be closed from Monday, November 22 to Friday, November 26 for Thanksgiving Break.

Applying to University of California (UC)

Students applying to the University of California may begin filling out the application online at http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/how-to-apply/.  The UC application submission period for Fall 2022 enrollment is November 1 – 30, 2021. Through the UC online application process, nearly all EOPS students are automatically granted fee waivers at up to four (4) UC campuses to which they are applying. The UC admission application fee is $70 per application to each campus.

Any EOPS student who does not automatically receive the fee waiver should contact our Mesa College EOPS Office immediately at (619) 388- 2706 or email EOPS Technician, Amara Tang, at atang@sdccd.edu for support. Students will have to complete and submit the “Authorization for Waiver of 2022-23 Admission Application Fees” pdf form, this can take up to 3-5 days to process. The fee waiver form should be completed only by students who do not receive the automatic fee waiver through the online UC application process. Please contact the Mesa College EOPS Office for more information.

The UC Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) provides support services to students who are from low income, educationally disadvantaged backgrounds and are first-generation college students. EOP is open only to California residents and to American Indians from any state. To be considered for EOP, students should indicate their interest when completing the UC online admissions application.

Applying to California State University (CSU)

The CSU Fall 2022 application period opened October 1, 2021.  Students may begin to apply for admission using the Cal State Apply online application at https://www2.calstate.edu/Apply during the priority filing period, October 1 through November 30, 2021. The application periods may differ from one CSU campus to another, so check the Cal State Apply Dates and Deadline website frequently to ensure that the CSU campus to which a student is applying is still accepting applications: https://www2.calstate.edu/apply/Pages/application-dates-deadlines.aspx.

The Cal State Apply online application allows EOPS students to identify their EOPS status and the community college at which they are enrolled. By answering affirmative to the EOPS question (see step-by-step instructions), Cal State Apply will show applicants they have been “granted” an application fee waiver at up to four (4) CSU campuses to which they are applying at the time of application submission once they have completed their application. The CSU admission application fee is $70 per application to each campus.

Any EOPS student who does not automatically receive the fee waiver should contact our Mesa College EOPS Office immediately at (619) 388- 2706 or email EOPS Technician, Amara Tang, at atang@sdccd.edu for support.

Applying to CSU Educational Opportunity Program (EOP):

Students can now submit their EOP application as part of their CSU admission application. All applicants who are applying to EOP are encouraged to complete and submit the EOP and recommendation portion at the same time as the application for admission. The application indicates the deadline for the EOP recommenders to complete the recommendation. Applicants can check the EOP Admission by Term page at https://www2.calstate.edu/attend/student-services/eop/Pages/eop-campus-status.aspx.

Applying to Private or Out of State Universities:

EOPS students must contact the private and/or out of state university undergraduate admissions office first and request an application fee waiver. If needed, contact the Mesa College EOPS office at (619) 388-2706 or EOPS Technician, Amara Tang at atang@sdccd.edu to request an EOPS Letter of Support.

Mesa College Transfer Workshops & Events:

The Transfer Center is hosting a series of workshops and events to support you through the transfer application process. To learn more, visit http://www.sdmesa.edu/student-services/transfer-center/workshop-events.shtml.
