CULTURAL COMPETENCY TRAINING II
Presenter: Dr. Tanis King Starck, SDSU, College of Education
Sponsored by the Mesa College Committee for Diversity Action, Inclusion & Equity (CDAIE) and Learning Opportunities for Transformation (LOFT) Supported through Student Success & Equity
This course will present a historical overview of the oppression experienced by each of the four major U.S. minority groups, to demonstrate the connection between historical oppression and current experiences of inequity and injustice. We’ll also explore the impact of social institutions on identity and cultural patterns of minority groups, individual and family needs, and the social institutions and agencies attempting to meet these needs.
