STAR is 100% funded by a $284,754 grant from the U.S. Dept of Education, TRIO Programs. STAR provides opportunities for academic development, assists students with basic college requirements, and serves to motivate students towards the successful completion of their postsecondary education. The goal of STAR is to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants and to facilitate the process of transition to the four-year university.
To receive assistance, students must be enrolled at Mesa College and meet federal income guidelines, be first-generation to college, and/or a student in the DSPS program and evidencing academic need. New participants must be full-time students who intend to transfer to the four-year university to pursue a bachelor's degree.
