Appeal Forms, Competed with Education Plan & All Documentation

Appeals are time-sensitive.  They must be received by the Financial Aid office at San Diego Mesa College by Noon on the student’s last day of classes OR by Noon on the following dates, whichever comes first:

Fall 2014 Window: 7/14/2014 – 10/31/2014

Spring 2015 Window: 12/1/2014 – 4/10/2015

Summer 2015 Window: 5/11/2015 - 7/02/2015

San Diego Mesa College Appeal Process Workshop

The Financial Aid Office of San Diego Mesa College will be offering 3 Financial Aid Appeal workshops during the Spring 2015 semester Appeal Submission window.  The Financial Aid Office highly recommends attending one of these workshops that focuses on the Financial Aid Appeal Process.

Enrollment is first come/first served and  limited to the first 35 students who sign up.  Please visit or call the Financial Aid Office to sign up for one or CLICK HERE to submit an email request to sign you up.  Please include your name, CSID#, workshop date you would like to attend, and Financial Aid Office password (if you have one). [this link is strickly for signing up for an Appeal Workshop at SD Mesa College.  Any other requests or spam will not be reviewed].

Please Note:  Attendance at a workshop is not mandatory nor does it guarantee an approval, but may help give you a better understanding of the Financial Aid Appeal process as a tool for potential re-instatement.  The information you will learn by attending a workshop prior to submitting your Financial Aid Appeal (such as key terminology, what may constitute an extenuating circumstance, detailed written statement and required supporting documentation), may help you to submit a more thorough appeal or come to an understanding if you don’t have a case to appeal for .

Dependency Petitions

Must be received by the Financial Aid office at San Diego Mesa College by Noon on the student’s last day of classes OR by Noon on the following dates, whichever comes first.

Fall 2014: 12/01/2014

Spring 2015: 5/08/2015

Summer 2015: [Must complete 2014 2015 FAFSA on the web no later than 6/27/2015] if you are still enrolled.  Otherwise the deadline for each session ending prior to June 30th will be two weeks prior to your last class of the session, not the end of summer session!

 

Federal Work Study

The deadline to fill in your 2014-2015 FAFSA to be eligible for Work Study consideration is April 15, 2014.

The deadline to accept a Federal Work Study award is September 5, 2014.  If you were awarded Federal Work Study and did not accept your award by the deadline, you will placed on the waiting list.  Generally San Diego Mesa College has funding to employ approximately 80-90 work study student workers, with a waiting list of up to 2000 [2013/2014 = 1914].

Last day of work {unless otherwise instructed/approved}

Fall 2014:    12/20/2014 or the student’s last day of attendance.

Spring 2015:  5/30/2015 or the student’s last day of attendance.

Summer 2015:  by approval only. Generally there is no Federal Work Study funding for summer.

 

Income Reductions

Must be received by the Financial Aid office at San Diego Mesa College by Noon on the student’s last day of classes OR by Noon on the following dates, whichever comes first.

Fall 2014:        11/21/2014

Spring 2015:    5/01/2015

Summer 2015:  Due to the mini sessions within summer,  the deadline for each session will be two weeks prior to the end of each, not the end of summer session!  The Financial Aid office must receive your complete Income Reduction request with ALL required supporting documents by Noon on the Friday 2 two weeks prior to the last day of the last summer session you are in attendance or 7/10/2015, whichever comes first.

This is also true for students in late start classes throughout the Fall and Spring Terms.

 

Federal Direct Loans (Direct Subsidized, Unsubsidized, & PLUS)

Must be received by the Financial Aid office at San Diego Mesa College by Noon on the student’s last day of classes OR by Noon on the following dates, whichever comes first.

Fall 2014:          12/01/2014

Spring 2015:     5/04/2015

Summer 2015:  By noon, 6/26/2015

 

Alternative Loans     

Same as Federal Direct Loan dates listed above.  NOTE:  Please be aware that your loan provider may publish dates that differ from the campus dates posted.  The Mesa College Financial Aid office will always comply strictly with the dates and terms listed here only.

2013/2014 (Summer)

2013/2014 FAFSA: June 30, 2014

 

Summer 2014 Appeal Window: May 12, 2014 - July 7, 2014
