This certificate program is approved by the State of California and graduates of the program can receive a certificate from the San Diego Community College District that certifies them as a fitness specialist. Students who complete this program are exceptionally prepared to take both the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the American Council on Exercise (ACE) exams. Prepare yourself for employment in the fitness industry by becoming a fitness specialist. This one year vocational certificate program starts only in the fall. There are no prerequisites. However, a basic understanding of elementary algebra and human anatomy is useful. Interested students should enroll in all four fall classes as soon as possible after fall schedule enrollment starts in June. This is an accelerated program that requires a comprehensive volume of work in a relatively short time frame.
