Wendy L. Smith received her B.A. from UCSD and her M.A. from SDSU. She teaches all levels of composition, various literature courses, and creative writing. She works to promote intelligence, empathy, curiosity, and creativity in her students.
Professor Smith is currently co-coordinator, with Jennifer Cost, of the Mesa Honors program. Beginning Fall, 2007, she and Professor Cost will teach an honors creative writing course in which students from English and Fine Arts will collaborate on Mesa College's literary magazine, Mesa Visions. Professor Smith's joy is performance events, so she especially looks forward to the magazine's spoken word performance. She also writes occasional book reviews for the San Diego Union-Tribune and is a fellow of the San Diego Area Writing Project. Outside of teaching, she enjoys spending time with her husband, three dogs, and a tortoise, all of whom live right here in Linda Vista.
