These exams are available daily, on a walk-in basis, as outlined in our Schedule. This sample packet contains information relating not only to the types of questions that students will encounter as they complete the Accuplacer exams for Reading Comprehension, Sentence Skills, Elementary Algebra and/or Arithmetic, but also contains information about what to expect on campus, parking, location, and general test taking tips/tricks. Please be sure to prepare before coming in for an assessment.

CELSA (Combined English Language Skills Assessment) is a paper and pencil test used for course placement into English as a Second Language courses. This test takes 45 minutes to complete and consists of 75 multiple choice questions. The test is written only and does not include a listening or spoken portion. The scores and recommended course placements are available to the student shortly after test completion.
The test involves reading a conversation or other paragraphs and choosing the correct word to complete the story or conversation.
There are four levels of ESL classes and your score on the CELSA test will determine which level is best for you.Please review this sample material and this informational handout to determine whether ESOL testing is right for you, and then please contact the Assessment Office to arrange an appointment. ESOL exams are timed, given in groups, and last approximately 80 minutes.
