STAR is a federally funded TRIO Student Support Services program that provides opportunities for academic development, assists students with basic college requirements, and serves to motivate students towards the successful completion of their postsecondary education. STAR also provides grant aid to current participants who are receiving Federal Pell Grants. The goal of STAR is to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants and to facilitate the process of transition to the four-year university.
Eligibility for Program Services
To receive assistance, students must be enrolled at Mesa College and meet federal income guidelines, be first-generation to college, and/or be a disabled student and evidencing academic need. New participants must be full-time students who intend to transfer to the four-year university to pursue a bachelor's degree.
Eligibility for Grant Aid
To receive grant aid, students must be current active participants in STAR who are in their first two years of postsecondary education and receiving a Federal Pell Grant. Other criteria apply.
