Ms. Lauria earned a B.S. degree in Medical Science from Alderson-Broaddus College in Philippi, West Virginia, and a PA-C (Physician Assistant Certificate) in Primary Care from the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants.
While she was studying at Alderson-Broaddus College, she was assigned to clinical rotations in pediatrics, internal medicine, surgery, gastroenterology, emergency medicine, student health, and obstetrics/gynecology. Since that time, she has acquired experience in diagnosing and treating patients, performing minor surgical procedures, and patient education. She also participated in two Federal Drug Administration regulated Pharmaceutical studies where she managed 120 patients and collected data for drug approval.
Ms. Lauria began her career in 1995 as a Physician Assistant in Family Practice/Internal Medicine in the Cathedral City Medical Clinic and worked with large, underserved, indigent populations in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. From 1997-1999, she was a Physician Assistant in Emergency Medicine/ Trauma at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. Additionally, since 1999, she has gained additional clinical experience as a Physician Assistant in Dermatology at Scripps Clinic, San Diego.
Since 2002, Ms. Lauria has been an adjunct instructor in the Medical Assisting Program at Mesa College. She has instructed students using lecture, online and hands-on techniques, and she is familiar with OSHA and CDC guidelines. Since 2006, she has been the Acting Program Director and has contributed to curriculum development and managed the directed clinical practice component of the program.
