Dr. Donna Budzynski is in the Department of Chemistry, as Assistant Professor. Donna's academic and professional credentials abound with examples of excellence. She began her undergraduate career at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, Illinois. Subsequently she earned BS, MS and Ph.D. degrees in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She brings to Mesa over seven years of experience in teaching college chemistry courses as well as three years of industrial experience.
Dr. Budzynski served, for three years, as the quality control laboratory supervisor for the Unilever Corporation. In that capacity she supervised numerous chemists and inspectors in ensuring the quality of hair and personal care products. Subsequent to her graduate studies, Donna served as a visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago teaching undergraduate chemistry courses. She also served as a lecturer at Truman College in Chicago for two years. Since 1996, Dr. Budzynski has been on the faculty of Wilbur Wright College (also Chicago) teaching a variety of chemistry courses including introductory, general and organic chemistry, as well as physical science survey courses. During this time, she has been a very active participant in various departmental and college committees, has developed new courses and advised students.
Donna is an accomplished instructor who has a keen understanding of student learning and is able to use a variety of methodologies to maximize that learning. She is an avid user of technology in her classrooms including the development of an online chemistry course. At the department and college level, Dr. Budzynski has served on the strategic planning committee, women's history month committee, accreditation committee and the academic affairs committee. In working with students, she has been active with the Future Teachers Organization and served as a judge in science fairs.
