Jack Doherty is the lieutenant in charge of Field Operations for College Police Department which includes responsibility for Mesa College, Miramar College, City College and the six campuses of Continuing Education. He has offices at Mesa and City Colleges.

Lt. Doherty came to the District in 1999 after 27 years with the San Diego Police Department. He has extensive background in organization development and management analysis activities. His career includes assignments in patrol, investigations, personnel, communications and the legal advisor’s office. He holds a management certificate from the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. He attended the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Doherty was elected to the city council of the newly incorporated City of Lemon Grove, California. He served on the San Diego Association of Governments Board of Directors, the Automated Regional Justice System Board of Directors and the League of California Cities Public Safety Policy Committee. He taught criminal law at the San Diego Police Academy and at Miramar College.
