Mesa College's newest counselor, Dr. Arthur Boyd, is a 16-year veteran of the City College counseling department. At City, Dr. Boyd currently serves as a counselor for student athletes. He served as secretary of City's academic senate on three occasions; a member of the state senate Counseling and Library Issues Committee; a member of the State Chancellor's counseling advisory committee; and an accreditation visiting team member on four occasions.

He holds a bachelor's degree in Behavior Science from the University of LaVerne, where he graduated Cum Laude with Departmental Honors in Behavior Science; a Master of Art's Degree in Human Behavior with distinction from National University in San Diego; a Master of Science Degree in Counselor Education with honors from San Diego State University; and a Ph.D. in Education from Lasalle University.

He retired as Master Chief Petty Officer after serving 23 years in the U.S. Navy. He has the distinction of having been handpicked as the Navy's first Coordinator of all Enlisted Leadership Training as a member of the Chief of Naval Operations Staff in Washington, D.C.
