Chris holds the position of Professor in Mesa College’s English Department. He was hired in 1996, and since then, he has assumed roles of increasingly greater responsibility to serve his department, the college, and even the State of California’s educational programs, particularly in the areas of curriculum development and Student Learning Outcomes. Chris chaired the English Department from 2004-2009, and he guided faculty members through the creation of a rubric for learning outcomes in English 49 (formerly English 51). He also co-authored the so-called “Genesis Paper” on SLOs for the associate degree. He has served on the Academic Program Review Committee since 2003, and he co-chaired Standard 1 for the 2004 Accreditation Self-Study.
In a larger arena, Chris Sullivan served as a member of the Curriculum Committee for the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges. In this capacity, he was consulted for editing and finalizing language for the rubrics for English and reading. He also played a key role in developing the SLOs for English 1A throughout the California Community Colleges.
