Professor Marilynn Schenk is new to the English Department. Last year, she taught for the Washoe County School District in Reno. This included teaching at-risk ESL students. For the four years prior, she held a full-time, tenure-track position as Reading Specialist at Truckee Meadows Community College. Earlier, she spent four years as a reading instructor at Santa Barbara City College, and for two years prior to Santa Barbara, she acquired international experience as an ESL teacher in Japan. She earned a bachelor's degree in Music, a Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language, and an M.A. in Education, Reading and Language Arts - all from UC Santa Barbara.
