Where can I find more information on the Radiologic Technology program?

Is there a waitlist to get into the Radiologic Technology program at Mesa?
No, each year the applications are reviewed. Complete applications are put into a pool and selected through a computerized, random process.
How many students do you take each year?
It varies according to clinical site availability. Generally, 35-40 students.
Where do I apply?
You may mail or bring your application to Special Admissions in the I-400 building, first floor. The mailing address is on the application itself.
I am taking a spring course that won't be finished until a couple weeks before the application deadline. Can I submit my application before I finish the class?
If the class is a prerequisite, you must wait until you finish it before you submit your application and transcripts. You must submit an official transcript which includes the posted grade for each prerequisite class. Grade printouts are not accepted. Courses "In Progress" will not be considered.
What kind of job market is there for Radiologic Technology?
The job market for technologists has always followed a cycle, where there are times of many jobs and then fewer jobs. Right now, there seem to be fewer jobs. However, 75% of our graduates obtain jobs in the field within 6 months.
Can I do my Career Exploration at another hospital than the ones on the list?
Yes, but the hospital must have inpatients, an operating room and an emergency room. Check with both the volunteer and imaging departments to arrange your observation.
I am out of state. How can I attend an Information Session?
Contact the Program Director.
Do I have to register for the Information Session, or do I just show up?
You do not need to register. Just arrive on time. You may want to print out the current Information/Application from the website to refer to and make notes on during the session.

Students who are in the program may elect to take a mammography course (didactic and clinical) in their second year, which will qualify them to be CA-certified in mammography. Community professionals are not eligible for our mammography course. Locally, professionals may contact UCSD for information on mammography certification opportunities. http://radtech.ucsd.edu
