Martin Luther King Jr. Parade

San Diego Mesa College alumni are invited to join current students, faculty, staff and administrators to celebrate the dream and commemorate the legacy of one of the most prominent civil rights leaders at the 28th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade. Mesa College has a history of taking home a trophy in one or more categories in the parade and a fun time is had by all.

The parade and following multicultural event will be held on Saturday, January 19. Featuring marching bands and floats, the parade begins at 10 am on the east side of PetCo Park (tailgate park at 13th and Imperial) and travels north on Park Blvd to J Street, then west to 7th, then south on 7th and ends at the west side of PetCo Park.

Everyone is also welcome to stop by the San Diego Community College District information booths at the Multi-Cultural Festival, held following the parade from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Promenade across from the Convention Center. Mesa, City and Miramar colleges and Continuing Education will offer information on the District’s educational offerings and services to the community.  College class schedules for spring semester -- which begins January 28 -- will also be available.

Those interesting in participating in the Mesa College delegation are asked to show up at least 45 minutes early to park, locate the Mesa College float in the staging area, and pick-up a flag, bell or t-shirt (while supplies last). Early birds are welcome to help with the final stages of the float decoration between 7:30 to 8:00 a.m.
