Gourmet dinners are created and served by students in the gourmet restaurant portion of the Mesa College Culinary Art/Culinary Management Program. Through December 12 – Mesa College Art Gallery: “Student Art Exhibition Fall 2012. Includes artworks in drawing, design, digital media, printmaking, photography, painting, ceramics, fashion and sculpture, produced by students enrolled in studio art and fashion classes. All aspects of the exhibition were designed and executed by the Museum Studies class under the direction of Professor Moctezuma. 12/7– Spanish Stage Premiere of “Sueños y Realidad” Four one-act plays, written, produced and performed in Spanish by college students , presents vignettes of how our dreams clash with reality in contemporary U.S and Latin American society. The four one act plays touch on the following topics: The bond between boy soldiers in the El Salvador Civil War; a border crossing tragedy and triumph; how personalities and cultural misconceptions clash in a San Diego Diner, and see if the family bonds survive a modern-day love triangle. 7:30 p.m., Fri., Dec. 7, Apolliad Theatre at Mesa College. 12/12 - Music Recital featuring students in the Mesa College Applied Music Program (AMP). AMP is a demanding curriculum that includes private instruction with an established master, participation in a music ensemble such as choir or jazz band, and study in core music theory courses. Wed. 3/15– Biology Department Presents: Ryan Levinson. Ryan is the EMS/Rescue Manager for the Big Wave World Tour and an EMT with the City of San Diego. The Mesa College student has competed in over 40 triathlons, and has placed top-3 in national and world championship events while also pursuing his passion for surfing, bodysurfing, kite boarding, and sailing. All this despite having a form of Muscular Dystrophy which has caused many of his muscles to atrophy. Come and hear this uplifting story about overcoming obstacles by this truly remarkable young man.
