Through December 6 – The Mesa Supper Club. Last week for good eats! Gourmet dinners are created and served by students in the gourmet restaurant portion of the Mesa College Culinary Art/Culinary Management Program. Full course meals include soup, salad, entrée and dessert for only $14. Eat in or take-out available, but please bring a reusable take-home bag. Mon. and Tues. 4:15 to 6:00 p.m. Room H-105, behind the main cafeteria.

12/1-13 – Mesa College Art Gallery: “Experiment!” Student Art Exhibition Fall 2011. Includes ninety plus artworks in drawing, design, digital media, printmaking, photography, painting, ceramics, fashion and sculpture, produced by students enrolled in studio art and fashion classes. All aspects of the exhibition were designed and executed by the Museum Studies class under the direction of Professor Moctezuma. 12/7 - Music Recital featuring students in the Mesa College Applied Music Program (AMP). AMP is a demanding curriculum that includes private instruction with an established master, participation in a music ensemble such as choir or jazz band, and study in core music theory courses. Wed. Dec. 7, 1 p.m. in Room C-119.

12/9– Spanish Stage Premiere of “Corazones rotos.” “Corazones rotos” presents vignettes of broken hearts in contemporary Latin American society. Three short plays feature a love story set against deportation, a family of an Argentina footballer and passion and love ignites in a fiery artistic inspired play. 7:30 p.m.,Dec. 9, Apolliad Theatre at Mesa College. 12/10 -- The Mesa College Music Department Guitar and Vocal Ensemblesin Concert (off campus) offer a performance of early-American songs from the “First New England School,” as well as carols set for harp, oboe and choir, and excerpts from the Nutcracker Suite. 7:30 p.m., Sat., Dec., 10. 12/11 -- Jingle Bell Jazz at Dizzy’s! (off campus) The Mesa Concert Jazz Band, directed by James Romeo, and the Mesa Vocal

Ensemble, directed by Richard Chagnon, fill the air with holiday cheer, Sun. Dec. 11, 6:00 p.m. at in the event room of the San Diego Wine & Culinary Center, Harbor Club Towers at 2nd Ave & J Street/3rd Avenue & K Street. Enter on the back side of the buildings on Martin Luther King Jr. Promenade, facing the Convention Center. $15 cover, at the door.

12/13 - Holiday Ornament Fundraiser Silent Auction Reception. Bidding on unique, original hand-crafted ornaments for your holiday tree conculdes with a closing reception on Tue., Dec. 13, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Mesa College Art Gallery, D101. Ornaments on display in the LRC Foyer until then. Starting bid: $10 each. All proceeds support Art Department students, programs and projects.

12/13 - Music Recital. Christmas Concert with the award-winning Mesa College Concert Jazz Band, conducted by Saxophonist and Music Department Chair James Romeo. Wed. Dec. 13, 1 p.m. in Room C-119.

Mesa College and the San Diego Community College District will be closed December 22 through January 2.

Through 12/1 – Child Development Book Drive. The Child Development Center is asking donations of pre-school to toddler age books. These books will be donated to deserving children for the holidays as well as being added to the lending library. On Thursdays, 12 to 2:00 p.m., treats will be available, Donations are welcome anytime. Located in The CDC for more information (619) 388-2812. Tours gladly given.

Through 11/3 – Teacher Appreciation Week. Associated Students Government hosts this weeklong event expressing appreciation to Mesa College faculty. 10/20 -- The Great California ShakeOut. On Thursday, October 20th at precisely, 10:20 a.m., San Diego Mesa College, lead by its trained C-CERT team will join businesses, non-profits, schools, governments, neighborhoods, organizations, families, and others throughout the state will practice 'Drop, Cover and Hold On' as part of The Great California ShakeOut, the largest earthquake drill in history! Details to follow.

10/25 – Mesa Celebrates Latino Heritage Month. Guest Speaker: Sylvia Mendez. Mendez is the daughter of the plaintiff of the Mendez v. Westminster 1947 CA Supreme Court case that challenged racial segregation in Orange County. Tue., 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., Oct. 25, Room H117/118.

1/31 – MFusion Café Opens. The Culinary Arts/Management program begins luncheon service at the MFusion Café on Monday, Jan. 31. The menu changes daily as students master their culinary skills and learn the nuisances of the complex restaurant industry. MFusion serves organic produce grown on campus at the Green Garden on the Mesa and in herb container gardens on the outdoor patio. Lunch entrees, soups, salads and sides are offered daily. The Mesa Men's Volleyball Team will host the men's volleyball team from US Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in support of the Marines team members who are training to try out for spots on the All-Marine Corps Team, which will be competing against teams representing other branches of the US armed forces.
