Dr. Leticia López is an Associate Professor of Spanish, in the Languages Department. Leticia holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology and in Spanish from Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles. She earned her Master's degree and Ph.D. in Hispanic Language and Literatures from the University of Santa Barbara.
Leticia was a lecturer at San Diego State University from 2001-2002, teaching Spanish conversation and composition courses and a class in Hispanic Literature. For the five years prior to that assignment, she was a Teaching Associate at UC Santa Barbara, where she taught elementary, intermediate and advanced Spanish during the academic year and Intensive Spanish for Heritage Speakers in the summer. Leticia has another five years of teaching experience at other colleges, including Los Angeles Pierce College.
In addition to her successful teaching experience, Dr. López has been extensively involved in international education. Since 1997, she has organized and supervised Study Abroad programs in Madrid and Costa Rica for groups of UC Santa Barbara students. She was also responsible for the recruitment and marketing efforts for these programs.
