Description: This is a composition course using literature as a background for improving writing skills. Students discuss the general nature and elements of literature and literary criticism by reading and analyzing representative works of fiction, drama, and poetry. Based on this subject matter, students are required to write a variety of critical papers, including a research paper, comprising at least 6,000 graded words. This course is designed for transfer students and is suitable for those students interested in literature and in developing strong critical and analytical writing skills. Designated sections of this course may be taught from a specific cultural perspective.
