"Boot Camp" is a one-day orientation and exploration into the teaching formats, physical demands, mental exercise, and manual dexterity requirements that every Animal Health Technology student can expect to encounter on a daily basis in this two year program. No physical contact with any resident animal will occur.
Attendance and participation at "Boot Camp" are a mandatory requirement for each candidate before her/his final acceptance into the AHT Program.
An invitation to attend a "Boot Camp" is extended to the highest 40-50 scoring applicants to the Animal Health Technology Program.
Two "Boot Camp" Saturdays are scheduled each summer. The day starts at 7 AM and ends at 5 PM.
Candidates need to dress "ready for work": long pants, shoes with closed toes and heels, hair tied back, and no dangling jewelry. Bring a sack lunch as there are no fast food or cafeteria services close to the AHT Program compound. Coffee, water, and sodas are provided.
After the second "Boot Camp" the thirty openings in the entering class are filled starting with the highest score and proceeding in ranking order. In recent years, candidates numbering in the thirties and forties have been admitted into the entering class.
