There is a shortage in California schools for high school math and science teachers.  The San Diego Mesa College Teacher Education Program offers students who want to become STEM middle school and high school teachers the support and guidance necessary to follow this Teacher Ed Pathway. Our goal is to prepare students on this pathway at Mesa to become linguistically and culturally diverse STEM teachers who will teach at school districts in San Diego County.

The STEM Teacher Education Program will select 15 recent high school graduates and/or first-year Mesa College students for its 2020-2021 STEM Teacher Ed Cohort. As a STEM Teacher Ed student, you can complete your Teacher Education courses with a focus on STEM so you can transfer and earn your degree and teaching credential. Students in the STEM Teacher Ed Cohort who are proficient in math or science should consider applying. Students in this cohort will be mentored by a Calculus Professor.
