Physical Therapist Assistant

Effective 9-5-17: Application for Fall 2018 will be an on-line application process. No hard copy applications will be accepted.  Official Transcripts will still need to be mailed/dropped off to Special Admissions and will not be accepted if they have been opened.  The application period will be January 29 at noon - April 16, 2018 by 4:00 p.m.  Please check this site for updates for the posting of the on-line application in mid-December.

Mission Statement

The primary mission of the PTA Program at San Diego Mesa College is to provide excellence in the education and development of competent physical therapist assistants that provide high quality patient care through evidence based practice to diverse populations and become leaders within the health care community and profession.

  1. Select and perform safe and effective interventions within the:
    • PTA scope of practice.
    • Physical therapist’s plan of care.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of California physical therapy laws and regulations.
  3. Demonstrate ethical and professional behaviors consistent with professional standards and practice.
  4. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, as appropriate for a PTA.
  5. Participate in self-assessment and develop plans to improve knowledge, skills, and behavior as appropriate for a PTA.

100% of our graduates who have sought employment within 6 months of passing the licensure exam have succeeded. This data is reflective of classes graduating in 2013, 2014, and 2015.
