Program Requirements

UPON ACCEPTANCE INTO THE MEDICAL ASSISTING PROGRAM STUDENTS MUST:

  1. Have a current Healthcare Provider CPR Certification or have completed the training and received a card when they start the program. A course will be offered on campus at the start of fall semester.  The program director will confirm the date during your program orientation.
  2. Have a physical examination by summer prior to starting the program. (Students will be notified about due dates prior to program orientation)
  3. Have proof of Hepatitis B vaccination or have the series completed by summer prior to starting the program. Students without a valid record of Hepatitis B vaccine series completion must get a blood test (titer) to verify immunity to Hepatitis B. (Students will be notified about due dates prior to program orientation)
  4. Be current/up to date with immunizations (measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, varicella) and 2 PPD skin tests, or a Quantiferon blood test by summer prior to starting the program. Students without a valid immunization record must get blood tests (titers) to verify immunity to measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, and varicella. (Students will be notified about due dates prior to program orientation)
  5. Agree to submit to a background check and drug screen by summer prior to starting the program.  Students are responsible for the cost of the background check and drug screen (average cost: $ 71.00). (Students will be notified about due dates prior to program orientation)

***Students will upload a copy of their CPR card, physical exam form (given after acceptance to the program), immunization record including Hepatitis B into an electronic tracking system during the summer prior to starting the program.***
